ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has launched a mental health wellness program to closely monitor the psychological condition of every personnel.
On Tuesday, 90 personnel from the Iloilo City Police Office underwent a one-day lecture on mental health as part of the “Continuous Awareness Response Evaluation” or CARE program.
The lecture will be followed by a three-part activity which includes the administration of psychological screening test; a lecture and activity on anger management; and the distribution of Information, Education and Communication materials.
Upon completing the phases, a camp psychologist will evaluate the overall result of the cops’ screening tests.
The remarks and recommendation which will be confidential are to be forwarded to the office of the regional director for appropriate action.
The activity will be conducted regularly until 13,000 personnel across the region are covered.
Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, PRO-6 director, has two priorities: the accomplishment of the organization’s mission, and to take good care of the morale and welfare of personnel.
Miranda initiated the mental health CARE program as part of the “proactive approach” in response to Philippine National Police chief, Police General Debold Sinas’ directive to conduct psychological evaluation among police personnel following the controversial shooting incident involving a cop in Paniqui, Tarlac.
“Let us remember, there is no health without mental health. So I encourage all my personnel to cooperate in this activity and ensure mental health,” Miranda added./PN
