ILOILO City – A total of 17,448 drug personalities surrendered and 984 arrested across the region in 100 days of the police’s campaign against illegal drugs since July 1.
Records from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed that of the 17,448 surrenderees, 16,627 were drug users; 1,121 drug pushers; and 183 were government and barangay officials.
“We expect more drug dependents to surrender. But we are warning them. We will continue to monitor them,” said PRO-6 spokesperson Superintendent Gilbert Gorero.
On the other hand, of the 984 drug personalities arrested in police operations, 808 were drug pushers; only 176 were drug users and 15 were killed.
The 15th casualty was the 66-year-old Roberto Supremo. He was shot in his house in Barangay Rizal Estanzuela, City Proper.
Supremo was the subgroup member of slain drug lord Melvin Odicta, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). He was armed with a .380 pistol and a grenade.
According to Gorero, the region has the lowest number of drug personalities killed in police operations./PN
