PRO-6 nets 65 drug pushers, 229 wanted in a week

ILOILO City – Sixty-five drug personalities and 229 most wanted persons were arrested by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) in one week.

PRO-6 data from May 24 to May 30 showed 56 operations conducted, resulting in the arrest of these drug personalities. Another 217 operations apprehended the wanted persons.

Sixty-three operations were also made in the campaign against illegal gambling taking 223 individuals.

Police have recovered 104 firearms and 26 explosives in their “Oplan Katok” program, with 17 persons arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

According to PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, these accomplishments were the result of their program “Birada Semana ” which focues on illegal drugs, gambling, illegal possession of firearms, and the arrest of wanted persons.

“This initiative had kept PRO-6 among performing region in the PNP in terms of its major campaign against illegal drugs, gambling, loose firearms and wanted persons. We further encourage out police personnel to do more as we appreciate their hardships through giving of recognitions,” Miranda said.

The police director also warned officers against engaging in these illegal activities themselves.

“Kapag ang mga pulis ay gumagawa ng kabutihan sinsulian rin natin ang kanilang pinaghirapan sa pamamagitan ng pagbigay ng mga certifications, pero kun may gingawang kalukuhan, so there’s no doubt of kicking them out from the service.”/PN
