ILOILO City – A comprehensive two-week anti-criminality operation led by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has culminated in the arrest of 764 individuals across Western Visayas, from September 1 to 15.
In the expansive crackdown, a total of 657 targeted operations were conducted, resulting in a varied list of offenses.
According to the breakdown provided by PRO-6, the offenses include 182 arrests for involvement in illegal drugs, 198 for illegal gambling, and 285 for wanted individuals with standing warrants.
Additionally, authorities apprehended 21 individuals for possession of loose firearms, 66 for illegal fishing, and 12 for illegal logging activities.
Western Visayas police director Brigadier General Jack Wanky lauded the intensive efforts of law enforcement and the critical support from the community. He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the police force to uphold law and order in the region.
“Despite these significant number of arrests, rest assured that your police will maintain the intensity of our campaign against all forms of criminality and lawlessness in the region,” said Wanky.
He expressed his aspiration for a community where “people are safe wherever they are and can sleep soundly during the night.”/PN
