PRO-6 nets over P35-M illegal drugs in July

ILOILO City – More than P35 million worth of illegal drugs was seized from different police operations across Western Visayas in July this year.

Data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed that 5,150 grams of shabu valued at P35 million and 1,000 grams of marijuana worth P120,000 were confiscated.

The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6) seized the biggest volume of illegal drugs at 1,605 grams of shabu.

The monthlong operations also resulted in the arrest of 263 drug suspects.

Here is the breakdown of arrest per unit: Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (PPO) – 107, Iloilo City Police Office (CPO) – 42, Iloilo PPO – 34, Bacolod CPO – 25, Capiz PPO – 21, RPDEU-6 – 18, Guimaras PPO – seven, Aklan PPO – five, and Antique PPO – four.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) were filed against the suspects.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky commended the accomplishments of the operating units.

“These accomplishments are reflection of your commitment and patience. Despite this, let us keep pursuing the remaining persons involved in the illegal drug trade. It is our goal to cleanse our streets of the menace of illegal drugs,” he added./PN
