ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) seized 2.4 kilos of shabu valued at P16,311,452 in a weeklong operation dubbed “Birada Semana”.
The 61 anti-drug operations from March 27 to April 2 also led to the arrest of 81 drug suspects.
The biggest seizure was recorded in Zone 6, Barangay Buhang, Jaro district on March 27. Estrelita “Madam Ester” Bueno, 68, a resident of Novaliches, Quezon City, and Noe Llagas Jr., 27, a resident of Barangay Ungka, Jaro, yielded 1.2 kilos of shabu valued at around P8.1 million.
Bueno was a high-value and regional priority drug suspect, said Police Major Romel Anicete, chief of the PRO-6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit.
PRO-6’s record also showed 198 wanted persons were arrested in 195 operations. Of the 198, 42 belonged to the top 10 most wanted persons.
Police recovered 144 firearms and 13 explosives were either seized or surrendered in 24 operations.
In the campaign against illegal gambling, 123 suspects were arrested in 45 operations. Bet money confiscated amounted to P21,217.
Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, PRO-6 director, lauded his men for the successful operations.
“Ito’y patunay na patuloy ang pagiging masigasig ng inyong kapulisan na panatilihin ang kapayaapan, kaayusan tungo sa kaunlaran sa ating komunidad. Saludo po tayo sa ating mga personnel on the ground sa paglaan ng oras, kakayanan at dedikasyon. Nais kong hingin ang patuloy na suporta ng ating mamamayan na para sa akin ay susi ng ating tagumpay sa lahat ng aspeto ng ating kampanya,” said Francisco./PN
