PRO-6 nets P26.4-M shabu in two weeks

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) seized a total of P26.4-million worth of shabu during two weeks of operations across Western Visayas.

Data from the PRO-6 indicated that from Feb. 26 to March 3, police confiscated P14.041-million worth of shabu.

Furthermore, an additional P12.393-million worth of shabu was recovered in just one day, from the morning of March 7 to the morning of March 8, leading to the arrest of 13 drug suspects.

Overall, from Feb. 26 to March 8, PRO-6 netted P26.434 million in shabu.

The most significant drug operation occurred on Thursday, March 7, in Barangay Guinticgan, Carles, Iloilo, where the suspect, identified as Peter John Menguis, was caught with 160 grams of shabu valued at P1.088 million.

On March 8 alone, 32 individuals were arrested in five separate operations targeting illegal gambling.

In the campaign against loose firearms, three individuals were apprehended, 15 firearms were seized, and 28 fugitives were captured.

Additionally, in the fight against insurgency, four members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered with short firearms, and one was arrested.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky said these accomplishments over two weeks were the result of the diligent efforts of his personnel in the region.

“I would like to commend my men for their dedication and response to my orders to aggressively tackle illegal drugs, illegal gambling, and fugitives,” Wanky said./PN
