PRO-6 nets P302.6-M illegal drugs in 7 mos.

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has conducted a total of 1,285 anti-illegal drug operations from May 24 to Dec. 19. This resulted in the confiscation of 44,496.58 grams of shabu, with a total estimated value of P302,576,744.

During the same period, or the span of PRO-6 director Brigadier General Sidney N. Villaflor’s leadership, 273.40 grams of marijuana worth P32,808 were seized. A total of 1,686 drug personalities were also collared.

These are compared to last year’s 992 buy-bust operations, with confiscations of 21,350.21 grams of shabu worth P145,181,428; seizure of marijuana weighing 2,827.37 grams and worth P339,284.40; and arrests of 1,203 drug personalities.

Drug operations increased by 29.54 percent, the number of arrested persons increased by 40.15 percent, shabu confiscated increased by 108.41 percent and seized marijuana decreased by -90.33 percent.

PRO-6 data included the biggest single-operation in Western Visayas to date which was carried out on Dec. 17 in Sitio Sigasiga, Barangay Don T. Lutero East, Janiuay, Iloilo.

Six kilos of shabu with street value of P40.8 million were recovered from Miklyn Acosta.

Acosta’s companion and the operation’s main target, Koikoi, escaped upon realizing it was a police sting.

“These numbers speak of our resolve to end the fight against illegal drugs in the region. It is also a testament to the dedication and commitment of PRO-6 to having a drug-free community.
