ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) credited strong collaboration between law enforcement and the community for the peaceful observance of Holy Week in Western Visayas.
In its post-Holy Week assessment, PRO-6 reported zero incidents linked to this year’s Lenten activities — a result of solid teamwork among the Philippine National Police (PNP), local government units, church authorities, force multipliers, volunteer groups, and other government agencies.
“This year’s Holy Week showed what we can accomplish when everyone works together,” said Police Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, PRO-6 director. “The peace we experienced across the region is a shared success.”
Wanky praised the dedication of police officers deployed across the region, acknowledging their efforts in securing religious activities such as processions, masses, and Visita Iglesia, as well as ensuring order at terminals, piers, tourist areas, and major roads.
Public safety messages disseminated through media channels also played a role in preparing the public, according to PRO-6. These reminders included travel tips, emergency hotlines, and precautionary measures that helped prevent potential disruptions.
The regional director also extended his gratitude to barangay officials and tanods, rescue groups, and volunteers who supported security efforts on the ground.
“Let’s continue this spirit of cooperation as we build a safer Western Visayas — one that welcomes both residents and investors,” Wanky said./PN
