ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) said its security measures are all set to ensure a peaceful staging of the world-class Dinagyang Festival in this city.
A total of 76 commissioned and 2,370 non-commissioned officers will be deployed to secure venues for the various events of the festival, according to PRO-6 spokesperson Major Mary Grace Borio.
“PRO-6 is all set with its security deployment plan for the upcoming Dinagyang Festival… There is additional deployment from augmentation forces and force multipliers that are helping the Philippine National Police secure the festival,” said Borio.
The PRO-6 spokesperson said the proactive approach taken by PRO-6 serves as a testament to the dedication and commitment of law enforcement authorities to maintain peace and security throughout the duration of the festival.
With stringent security measures now in place, residents and visitors can look forward to celebrating the vibrant culture and tradition of the festival in a safe and secure environment, Borio added.
The Dinagyang Festival 2024 will have its opening salvo today.
Set to highlight on Jan. 28 with its Ati Tribes competition, the socio-cultural and religious celebration will have as its theme, “Pagdayaw kay Señor Sto. Niño, Padayaw sang mga Ilonggo!”
The festival’s two other major events are the Dinagyang ILOmination street dance competition on Jan. 26 and Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan on Jan. 27./PN
