ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is rolling out a month-long series of community outreach, public safety, and government service programs across Western Visayas as part of the 31st Police Community Relations (PCR) Month, reinforcing efforts to strengthen public trust by bringing essential police and government services directly to communities.
The month-long observance, themed “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Ugnayang Pulis at Mamamayan: Tapat, Maasahan, at Nararamdaman ng Bayan”, features a wide range of activities designed to deepen police-community engagement through public information campaigns, medical missions, environmental initiatives, and inter-agency service caravans.
Acting regional director Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño emphasized that the programs are not limited to the annual celebration but form part of the Philippine National Police’s continuing commitment to community partnership.
“Ang ating PCR programs ay hindi lamang ginagawa tuwing ganitong buwan. Regular natin itong ginagawa para mas mapaigting ang magandang relasyon sa ating komunidad,” Tuaño said.
Among the major activities are school symposiums, barangay pulong-pulong, and information and education campaigns aimed at increasing public awareness on crime prevention, anti-illegal drugs, online safety, and responsible citizenship through the distribution of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
PRO-6 will also conduct bloodletting drives, mangrove planting, coastal clean-up activities, feeding programs, and free medical consultations in various communities throughout Western Visayas.
In partnership with other government agencies and stakeholders, the regional police office will also stage Serbisyo Caravans offering free medical, dental, and optical services, police clearance processing, free haircuts, and other frontline government services to residents.
Tuaño said the initiatives are intended to make government services more accessible while further enhancing public confidence in the police organization.
“Hindi lamang pagpapatupad ng batas ang mahalaga. Gusto nating maramdaman ng ating mga kababayan na ang kapulisan ay katuwang nila sa komunidad at handang magbigay ng serbisyo sa anumang pagkakataon,” he said.
The observance will culminate in a recognition and awarding ceremony honoring outstanding police personnel, partner agencies, and community stakeholders for their contributions to strengthening police-community relations and advancing public safety initiatives in Western Visayas./PN
