ILOILO City – The huge shabu haul in Pavia, Iloilo on Friday last week would have a big, adverse impact on the distribution of the illegal drug in Iloilo, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, regional police director, hailed his men for the successful buy-bust operation.

It would contribute to the efforts of the PRO-6 to cripple drug trafficking in the region, he stressed.

Shabu valued at P810,000 was seized from a residential subdivision in Barangay Jibao-an, Pavia on Aug. 16. Two suspects were also arrested.

Operatives of the PRO-6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) and police force of Pavia staged the operation at around 2:40 p.m. at Phase 1, Block 1, Lot 18 of Deca Home 3 subdivision.

Pamuspusan said the seizure wosurely helped reduce the volume of shabu being traded in Iloilo.

He cited the “good coordination” of the RDEU and Pavia police.

The arrested suspects were 46-year-old Edwin Balinas (the subject of the operation), former Ceres bus driver and resident of Barangay Poblacion, Santa Barbara, Iloilo; and 35-year-old Janry Napat of Nabas, Aklan.
Recovered from their possession were 18 big sachets and drug paraphernalia.

A police asset initially bought from the suspects a sachet for P12,500.
Prior to the operation, the police subjected the two men to two weeks of surveillance.

Their source was in Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila, according to a policeman who was part of the operation but asked that he not be identified for lack of authority to speak on the matter./PN
