PRO-6 targets 50 high-value drug suspects

ILOILO City – At least 50 high-value drug suspects across Western Visayas are now the subject of operations by Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

Captain Glenn Soliman, chief of the RDEU, said his unit personnel are in close coordination with other government forces to monitor the movements and track down these drug suspects.

“Once we zeroed in their whereabouts we have to conduct operations. We need assets that could help us to penetrate and transact,” Soliman said.

Earlier, the RDEU said illegal drug pushers now prefer a solitary operation mode, utilizing an order-based system to expedite transactions and minimize arrest risks.

“Given the compact nature of Iloilo, it becomes easier for us to apprehend them, and we are grateful for the community’s assistance in tracking these individuals,” Soliman said.

Colonel Giovanni Musico, head of the PRO-6’s Regional Intelligence Division, confirmed the trend among illegal drug peddlers in the region has shifted towards individual operations, with many caught possessing large quantities of drugs.

“These individuals operate solo, handling both the receipt and distribution of drugs directly to buyers, without any intermediaries,” said Musico./PN
