ILOILO – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is aiming for zero major incidents this Holy Week.
Thousands of personnel from the PRO-6, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) have been mobilized across Western Visayas to secure the public.
They were deployed in churches, major thoroughfares, transport terminals, seaports, and other places of convergence starting Sunday, April 2, until April 9, said Police Major Mary Grace Borio, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
“Ready ang aton mga kapulisan sa ila duty sa Holy Week. May ara man kita augmentation forces halin sa BFP kag AFP, kag advocacy groups or force multipliers nga very active gid,” said Borio.
Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, PRO-6 director, said all police leaves were suspended except for sick leave to make sure that maximum personnel are on the field.
Earlier, Philippine National Police chief General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. ordered all unit forces to make sure no major incidents will happen during Holy Week.
“Let’s all ensure that no untoward incidents will happen at the airports and seaports especially [involving] the baggage or belongings of passengers. To those taking the bus, please ensure that the drivers are okay, not tired and the buses are in good running condition. Let’s keep this Holy Week one of the safest and most peaceful,” Azurin said.
He added, “Let’s aspire for zero casualty as we observe Holy Week.”/PN
