ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO)-6 is ready for the “ber” months when crimes could surge leading to the holiday season.
The “ber” months are September, October, November, and December.
What indicates the arrival of the jolly season for tropical Philippines is the start of the “ber” months. It is the longest countdown to Christmas.
According to PRO-6 spokesperson, Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, police visibility will be enhanced especially in places where people converge.
Common street crimes that could increase in frequency are robbery, theft, burglary of unattended residences, mugging, swindling, and street gang violence.
Police surveillance will be intensified, said Solis.
Also, the police’s performance would be evaluated. There will be weekly assessments and police strategies would be reviewed.
Solis stressed the importance of the police working in coordination with local authorities and stakeholders such as barangay tanods, citizen volunteers and other police force multipliers.
“Ma-adjust kita sang aton police deployments kun makita naton nga may dako nga volume sang mga kauturan naton nga magadumok sa mga markets, malls, terminals,” Solis said./PN
