ILOILO City – To maintain peace and order throughout Western Visayas this holiday season, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) will be setting up police assistance desks (PADs) across the region.
The PADs would be strategically located in areas where people converge such as churches, public plazas and commercial centers, said Superintendent Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson.
The regional police calls its Yuletide security plan “Oplan Ligtas Paskuhan.”
It kicks off on Dec. 16, the start of the nine-day traditional misa de gallo (dawn mass) leading to Christmas Day.
According to Malong, there would be a massive deployment of police personnel.
Aside from business establishments that are expected to be flooded with shoppers, transport terminals, too, would be crawling with policemen, said Malong.
Oplan Ligtas Paskuhan will run up to Jan. 6, 2019.
Malong said policemen would also be helping traffic auxiliaries manage the streets.
She gave no definite figures on the number of policemen that would be mobilized throughout the region.
To ensure the effectively of Oplan Ligtas Paskuhan, there would be a weekly assessment.
Malong said all police stations have been reminded to be on alert./PN
