ILOILO City – Progressive group Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), on the occasion of the 159th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio on Wednesday, Nov. 30, urged the public to continue his legacy of serving the people.

KMU underscored how the Filipino revolutionary hero and a laborer stood up and fight with the Filipino masses who were under the tyranny of Spain.

They pressed for the passage of the National Minimum Wage Bill which seeks to align the national family living wage to P1,133 daily wage of laborers. This aims to give them a decent income for their families especially with the surges in prices of basic commodities and other services.

Other demands of the group included the removal of valued-added tax (VAT) in petroleum products and other essential products, certify urgent the passage of law to scrap Oil Deregulation Law, and lower the prices of food and stop taxing the consumers and assistance to poor families.
