ILOILO City – The Confederation of Iloilo Provincial Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (CIPJODA) has agreed to equitably apportion among its members the 100 car passes provided by the city government.
The discussion was held at the Iloilo provincial capitol yesterday. In attendance were the leaders and representatives of 38 transport groups under CIPJODA.
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias and Provincial Legal Officer Dennis Ventilacion facilitated the discussion.
Banias said the agreement on the car pass allocation will be approved by Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. The city government will then be informed about the division.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod will use this as basis in amending the Comprehensive Perimeter Boundary Ordinance that limits the entry of provincial jeepneys to the city via the car pas system.
Of the 100 car passes, Sta. Barbara town will get the biggest chunk – 16 car passes.
Sta. Barbara has five jeepney associations with a total of 250 jeepney units.
The town of Janiuay will get 10 car passes. It has a unified transport group with a total of 165 jeepney units.
Other jeepney associations will have one to five car passes depending on the number of their units.
There are 1,602 passenger jeepney units in the province./PN
