ILOILO – The provincial government will once again plant trees in line with its pet program, Action for Regreening and Transformation (ART) which is now on its fourth year.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. said this year’s tree planting will be at the 11-hectare portion of Mt. Baclayan in Brgy. Madarag, San Enrique town on Arbor Day, June 28.
Defensor said around 6,000 assorted tree plantlets will be planted.
The activity will be participated by various local government agencies, provincial capitol employees and the local government unit of San Enrique.
Defensor reiterated the importance of trees in combating global warming.
He launched the ART program in 2011 in a bid to plant one million trees in the province.
With the support of both the public and private sectors, around 1.3 million trees have been planted with 80 percent survival rate, as monitored by the Barangay Service Point Officers./PN
