ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) is all set for the influx of people in different cemeteries in this city during this year’s Piesta Minatay.

This year, cemeteries in this city are open to the public after two years of closure due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. But only individuals fully or partially vaccinated against COVID-19 will be allowed to enter cemeteries.

Due to Tropical Storm “Paeng”, the PSTMO believes there will not be as many people heading to the cemeteries compared to pre-pandemic’s Piesta Minatay.

Yet, the PSTMO is prepared for the influx of cemetery goers once the weather condition improves.

PSTMO head Jeck Conlu again reminds the public that it is not allowed to bring sharp objects, firearms, intoxicating drinks, or sound systems in cemeteries.

Conlu added that vaccination cards will be checked at the entrances of cemeteries.

The PSTMO head also said vehicles will be parked 50 meters away from the entrances of cemeteries and memorial parks./PN
