IN LIGHT of all the Christmas parties that have been springing up like mushrooms, there is the one thing that we look forward to besides to food – the exchange gifts.
SP2x, Manita-Manito, Kris Kringle, Secret Santa, whatever your group calls it. The part where you get to randomly pull names or numbers out of a fish bowl is one of the most exciting things about Christmas parties. Whether it is just between friends or a huge organization, exchanging gifts brings Christmas spirit into any Christmas party.
According to Ava, “It’s an activity that allows you to buy gifts for someone whether you know them or not, but it’s most fun with friends.”
Roxanne thinks “the SP2X is a good tradition of Filipinos and other cultures in the world. It brings people closer together as they try to get to know their special person when they buy gifts for them. It’s a fun and touching way to give and receive gifts! Also, you get to express how much that person means to you.”
Arra says, “It’s fun and exciting because you get to randomly pick that special person to give a gift to.”
While Rhett, on the other hand, thinks “I like gift giving but I would appreciate it a little bit more if it came from someone who actually wanted to give me something…not that they had to give me a gift because they picked my name. But it’s still a good gesture though.”
So yeah, maybe we don’t always get the best kinds of gifts, but for me I think what really matters is the fact that people get to group together and share whatever they can with others.
Exchanging gifts is one of the most notable parts of any Christmas party so, make an effort for it to be the part that your special person will cherish forever./PN
