CAPIZ – The Capiz Police Provincial Office (PPO) has cautioned the public to be wary of individuals falsely using the name of provincial director Colonel Jerome Afuyog Jr.
In a statement by the Capiz PPO, several chiefs of police in the province received reports from engineers, architects, and contractors of local government units claiming they were contacted by someone who identified themselves as Afuyog regarding an alleged construction work on his family’s residence in Capiz.
Furthermore, the individual in question has been requesting contractors to meet at a mall.
In response, Afuyong clarified that he did not make these calls and emphasized that he has no relatives overseeing any construction projects in Capiz.
The Capiz PPO advises the public to contact their hotline at 09189626477 or the nearest police station if they encounter similar incidents.
Afuyong said this serves as a reminder to all to remain vigilant against scams and fraudulent activities that misuse the identities of public figures./PN
