Puentevella stands by Ebreo

BACOLOD City — Mayor Monico Puentevella has no plan to remove Bacolod Transport Authority Office (BTAO) head Reynaldo Ebreo despite the protests of transport groups.

“I stand by my people when they perform their duties well,” Puentevella said.

For several months, the Federation of Bacolod City Drivers Association (FEBACDA) lambasted Ebreo for confiscating the licenses of erring drivers and for allegedly selling body sticker numbers worth P150 to P300 to public utility drivers.

FEBACDA president Elizabeth Katalbas recently wrote a letter to the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) questioning the legality of license confiscations.

Katalbas said under the City Ordinance no. 214, BTAO should only issue traffic citation tickets to violators.

Last week, the United Negros Drivers and Operations Center also wrote a letter to the SP seeking Ebreo’s immediate removal from service.

Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez had previously filed a graft case against Puentevella and Ebreo for selling body sticker numbers to drivers./PN
