Purchase limit on disinfectants, face masks lifted

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has removed the quantity limit for the purchase of essential items such as face masks and disinfectants as inventories normalize.

Trade secretary Ramon Lopez on Oct. 15 issued Memorandum Circular No. 20-54 lifting the quantity limits in purchasing products which includes disinfecting alcohols, hand sanitizers, disinfecting liquids and face masks (N95 and N98).

“Manufacturers and retailers of disinfecting alcohol, hand sanitizers, disinfecting liquids, and face masks have likewise assured the DTI that their supply are now more than sufficient to cover consumer demand during the period of the COVID-19 public health emergency, and has been confirmed through regular monitoring activities,” Lopez said.

The move came after months of strict lockdowns when hoarding and profiteering incidents were rampant./PN
