MANILA – Purefoods TJ Titans topped the Leg 6 of the PBA 3×3 Third Conference following a 20-16 beating of TNT Tropang Giga in the finals over the weekend at Robinsons Place Manila.
Joseph Eriobu drilled three outside shots to lead the way with 11 points for the TJ Titans, which exacted its revenge on the Tropang Giga, who beat them in the Leg 2 finals.
Eriobu, who had playing stints with Mahindra Floodbusters, Phoenix Fuel Masters and Blackwater Bossing in the PBA 5×5, set the tone for Purefoods for an early 11-4 lead over TNT.
The Tropang Giga got within four points at 12-16 off an outside conversion from Almond Vosotros but could not pull the squad even closer after missing his next attempts.
The Tropang Giga finally cut the deficit to 14-17 with under a minute left but the TJ Titans managed to increase it back to 18-14 on a Marvin Hayes layup with 30 seconds left.
Eriobu widened the lead further for Purefoods with his third two-pointer of the game. Vosotros knocked down a long basket at the buzzer but was not enough to propel the Tropang Giga to a win.
Jed Mendoza chipped in four markers, while Antonio Bonsubre Jr. and Hayes had three and two points, respectively, for Purefoods, which clinched the top prize of P100,000.
The Tropang Giga settled for the runner-up prize of P50,000, while Meralco Bolts salvaged a bronze medal finish and P30,000 after beating Limitless Appmasters in the third place game.
Over at the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup, Celedonio Trollano and Kevin Alas took turns on the offensive end in the fourth quarter as NLEX Road Warriors defeat Meralco Bolts, 90-75. Both teams now has 3-2 slate.
