BACOLOD City – A purok leader was shot fatally by an unidentified gunman in Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
The 47-year-old Romeo Alberio was a resident of Purok Calamunding in Barangay Gatuslao, Candoni, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.
From what the Sipalay City police gathered so far, the victim was plowing a rice field using a hand tractor when the suspect without apparent reason opened fire. Alberio died on the spot.
His body was brought to the Candoni Health Unit for a “post-mortem” examination.
Policemen were still trying to identify as of this writing who may have fired at the victim.
The shooting happened at around 11 a.m. on Sept. 29.
Sipalay City police station personnel have yet to establish the motive as well./PN
