ILOILO – School officials from Pusan National University (PNU) in South Korea are scouting for graduate students here who want to get master’s degree in information and communications technology and engineering.

These officials are Dr. Dohoon Lee of PNU’s School of Electrical and Computer Science and Engineering; Dr. Kyungsim Yeon of Global ICT Policy Course and Global Human Resource Development Alliance Research Center; and Jaeyun Lee of Language Education Institute.

The three discussed their proposal before Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, Provincial Agriculturist Ildefonso Toledo and Public Employment Service Office Chief Francisco Heler Jr. According to Labor and Employment Officer I Jayrel Encontro of the Provincial Employment Service Office (PESO), the school officials are hoping that the provincial government can be of help in sending graduate students to the university.

“If we can send students there, they can train them to have good theoretical and application IT background and by the time they graduate, those students can be future IT professors and specialists,” he said.

But it is not yet clear if PNU will offer scholarship grants. PNU is among the 10 national universities in South Korea. (Jezza A. Nepomoceno/PN)
