KALIBO, Aklan – Police were not able to nab a drug suspect in a sting operation in Barangay Estancia.
He was Joeben Cipriano of Barangay Tinigaw who evaded arrest after he sold suspected shabu to an undercover officer for P16,000 around 7:45 a.m. on March 22.
Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit Chief Inspector Frensy Andrade said Cipriano managed to escape after sensing he was dealing with a police officer.
Prior to the buy-bust operation, the officers of the Kalibo police station also raided Cipriano’s house on the strength of a search warrant on March 21.
The makeshift nipa hut yielded 12 sachets of suspected shabu and other drug paraphernalia.
“Para sa ating lahat itong ginagawa ng mga operatiba para mabawasan ang illegal drugs sa Aklan,” said Andrade.
The intensified campaign against illegal drugs in Aklan will succeed with the support of the community, he added. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
