MANILA – The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) joins the widening list of sporting events in the country that were postponed due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
In an advisory, the PVL said that it is moving its scheduled six-team International Invitational tournament from April 14 to 19 to late September or early October this year.
The said postponed tourney was supposed to be bannered by PVL squads Creamline Cool Smashers, Petro Gazz Angels and BanKo-Perlas Spikers. They are to be challenged by teams from Australia, Vietnam and Chinese Taipei.
The league’s 2020 season-opening Reinforced Conference, on the other hand, is still scheduled to tip-off on May 30 but may also be adjusted depending on the status of the COVID-19 by that time.
Aside from the PVL, other volleyball leagues that were postponed were the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 82 Men’s and Women’s Volleyball, the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix and the Beach Volleyball Republic.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association, meanwhile, decided to terminate the remainder of it’s men’s and women’s volleyball action./PN
