BACOLOD City – The city government turned over essential equipment to 25 persons with disabilities (PWDs) associations here on Wednesday, February 25.

The turnover ceremony was led by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez at the lobby of the Bacolod City Government Center.

Initiated by Upward Inc. from the City Development Council, among the essential assistive devices and supplies were wheelchairs, crutches, quad cane, glucometer, blood pressure (BP) apparatus, pulse oximeter, and walker.

The city’s PWDs also received maintenance medicines, medicine kits, white cane sticks and protector sunglasses for the blind.

Mayor Benitez, in a Facebook post, said the city government is committed to providing inclusive and accessible benefits for PWDs.

“I will ensure that future distributions and events offer these benefits without delay or request — they should be readily available,” he said.

The mayor also told the beneficiaries: “You deserve to receive these. It’s a good thing I was able to attend this turnover ceremony so I could personally see where the city still lacks in providing benefits for our PWDs.”/PN
