ILOILO – Donate blood. Save lives. This was what 40 persons with disability (PWDs) did on Saturday.
They donated blood during a bloodletting activity of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) at the provincial capitol.
There were 120 PWD registrants for the bloodletting actually, according to PSWDO’s Ann Rapunzel Ganzon, but only 40 passed the screening.
Many registrants failed the screening due to, among others, high blood pressure. Others were anemic.
The bloodletting was able to collect 44 bags of blood.
The bloodletting theme was “Pagpalangga sa Tion sang Pandemya: Kasablagan sa Lawas, Hindi Upang Agod Kabuhi sang Iban Maluwas.”
PSWDO partnered with the Philippine Red Cross – Iloilo for the activity.
“The PWDs’ heroic and noble act will surely serve as an inspiration to many. Their blood is a priceless gift to those in need,” said Ganzon.
Aside from the bloodletting, a forum with PWDs was also conducted on nutrition and management. It was rendered by Dr. Bambi Peodina Tupas of The Medical City./PN
