ILOILO City – The Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) encourages persons with disabilities (PWDs) in this city to have their identification (ID) cards installed with security label as soon as possible.

PDAO head Eleanor Gregorio said PWDs are advised to visit PDAO as early as now.

Sa karon diutay pa lang ang nagakadto diri sa opisina. Naga-worry ako nga basi magdinaguso sila towards the end,” Gregorio added.

Data from PDAO showed there are around 16,000 IDs issued to PWDs in this city that need to be installed with security label.

Under Mayor Jerry Treñas’ Executive Order No. 157, PWD IDs should be installed with security label beginning Nov. 29 until Feb. 28, 2024.

The city mayor’s order came following reports and actual apprehensions of fake PWD IDs in this city.

Treñas said the security label aims to abate the proliferation of fake IDs.

Gregorio further stressed that a PWD ID with no security label after three months or after Feb. 28 shall be considered invalid.

The PDAO head added that a PWD ID has a validity of five years. Those IDs nearing expiration date should be brought to PDAO to be replaced with a new one installed with security label./PN
