BACOLOD City – A worker for a quarry company had been shot by motorcycle-riding gunmen near their house on Wednesday.
The 45-year-old Ramero Toralba was hit in the head, said Superintendent Noel Polines, chief of police in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Police have yet to determine the motive in the shooting as of this writing.
Toralba was heading home in Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City on board a motorcycle when shot at around 7 a.m.
He has just sent her daughter to the E. Lopez Elementary School at the time, a neighbor who witnessed the shooting, village councilman Joseph Inong, told the police.
The barangay kagawad said he was drinking coffee when he saw Toralba and his motorcycle falling to the ground.
The bullet exited the victim’s face. The gunmen, who were wearing helmets and facemasks, sped off toward EB Magalona town after the shooting, police said.
Toralba worked as a “checker” for Bravo Aggregates Mineral Corp., said Inong.
According to the village councilman, this was the second attempt in the life of Toralba – the victim had been shot, too, two months ago./PN
