MANILA – Kevin Quiambao has announced his departure from De La Salle University Green Archers a day after they fell short of bagging the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament crown.
In a social media post on Monday morning, Quiambao stated that he will turn professional with Goyang Sono Skygunners team in Korean Basketball League.
The Bayanan, Muntinlupa City native Quiambao added that he decided to join the Skygunners in hopes of fulfilling his dream of playing in NBA someday.
“To my teammates and the whole coaching staff and management, I can’t thank you enough for unwavering support. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to reach my potential. I am so grateful and blessed to have you guys,” Quiambao said.
“With that being said, my college career comes to an end, i will Pursue my NBA dream and start my journey by playing professional ball in Goyang Sono SkyGunners and developing my game even more,” he added.
The 23-year-old Quiambao’s move to the Skygunners as an Asian Quota Player was first reported prior to the start of the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament.
There were also rumors earlier this year that the 6-foot-7 Quiambao is gaining interest for an NBA Summer League stint with New York Knicks.
Quiambao left the Green Archers and the UAAP as a one-time champion, two-time MVP, one-time Finals MVP, Rookie of the Year, and two-time Mythical Team member.
