ILOILO City – Charges were filed against three suspects in the robbery of a courier company in Barangay Quintin Salas, Jaro.
“Ang gin-file namon is robbery holdup. Didto kita nag-base sa testimonya sang witnesses kay positively identified ang suspect,” said Police Captain Lester Oliveros, officer-in-charge of Jaro Police Station.
John Mark Lebuna, 22, of Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, was arrested in Barangay Guinobatan, Leganes, Iloilo, on March 3.
On the other hand, suspects Marlon Edemburgo Jr., of Barangay Benedicto, Jaro, and one minor John Doe, remain at large.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO)-Intelligence Unit seized three sachets of suspected shabu from Lebuna.
He also tested positive for illegal drug use and would face additional charges.
“Sa kwarta, wala kita may na-recover sa iya,” said Oliveros, referring to the looted money.
The ICPO confirmed that Lebuna had prior charges of frustrated homicide and robbery. Lebuna was also tagged in a holdup incident in Barangay Tacas, Jaro, involving a taxi.
Mayor Jerry Treñas lauded the ICPO for the arrest of one of the suspects.
Treñas will discuss with the ICPO officer-in-charge, Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, as to who will get the reward money raised to P200,000 following an additional P100,000 committed by Rep. Julienne Baronda.
“Why are we giving this reward? We want to send a message nga seryoso kita. If you do something illegal, padakop ta gid,” he stressed.
On March 1, three men entered the J&T Express office and declared, “Holdup ‘ni, indi kamo maghulag kay paniruhon ta kamo!”
The suspects carted away P622,966 in cash. Two cellular phones and around P6,000 in cash from two employees were also taken./PN
