MANILA – NLEX Road Warriors’ rookie Kiefer Ravena will have a busy All-Star week after being chosen in the Gilas Pilipinas team that will play in the Luzon and Mindanao legs of the 2018 PBA All-Star Games later this month.
The Iloilo City native will team up with June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Jeth Troy Rosario, Calvin Abueva, Terrence Romeo, Carl Bryan Cruz, Gabe Norwood, Allein Maliksi, Matthew Wright, Roger Pogoy, and Jayson Castro in the Mindanao leg.
They will face the Mindanao All-Stars team composed of Earl Scottie Thompson, Mark Barroca, Peter June Simon, Jiovani Jalalon, Baser Amer, Cyrus Baguio, Sonny Thoss, Rafael Reavis, John Paul Erram, Ryan Garcia, and Carlo Lastimosa.
The Mindanao leg will be in Digos, Davao del Sur on May 23. There will be a special three-point shootout between the team of Christopher “Bong” Go, Allan Caidic and Mans Carpio against the trio of Simon, Manny Pacquiao and Kenneth Duremedes.
Ravena will also be present in the Gilas squad that will compete against Luzon PBA All-Stars on May 25 in Batangas with Fajardo, Romeo, Pogoy, Rosario, Cruz, Maliksi, Norwood, Jalalon, and Rey Mark Belo as his team mates.
They will battle the Luzon squad bannered by Abueva, Wright, Raymond Almazan, Ian Sangalang, LA Tenorio, Paul Lee Stanley Pringle, Arwind Santos, Marcio Lassiter, and Alex Cabagnot.
The Luzon leg will be much busier with Maliksi set to defend his three-point shootout crown, Chris Newsome aiming to repeat as Slam Dunk champion and the obstacle challenge featuring big men.
Ravena is one of the six Western Visayas-based players to play in Visayas All-Star team in the Visayas leg on May 27 in Iloilo City along with fellow Ilonggos Emman Monfort and Jericho Cruz and Negrenses James Yap, Jeffrei Chan and Joe Devance./PN
