SAN JOSE, Antique – Gov. Rhodora Cadiao urged members of the Regional Development Council (RDC) in Western Visayas to work towards the attainment of Ambisyon 2040 – a long-term vision for the Filipinos to enjoy a stable and comfortable life.
“The RDC serves as a forum where all local efforts are contributory and converge with the national development agenda,” Cadiao said on Friday, following her installation as chair of the highest policymaking body in the region.
She added almost all municipalities and provinces in the region were updating their municipal and provincial development and physical framework plan.
“Local government units should have to update their local plans,” she said, citing the result of the May 2019 local planning assessment of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Cadiao added the municipal or provincial Comprehensive Development Plan, Comprehensive Land Use Plan and the local investment plan should be updated following their budget calendars.
In the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Management, Cadiao said the local government units need to strengthen their linkages.
“A better plan and system make us be prepared for any eventualities,” she added.
She encouraged all council members to be guided by the whole-of-nation approach for a common vision.
Ambisyon 2040 was launched under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte to serve as a guide for the uninterrupted implementation of the policies and programs of government.(With a report from PNA/PN)
