BACOLOD City – The Regional Development Council (RDC) will hold its second quarter regular meeting today at the Seda Capitol Central hotel.

RDC chairwoman Rhodora Cadiao, governor of Antique, confirmed her attendance, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said.

It is in charge of the preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of short- and long-term regional development plans and investment programs, regional physical framework plan, and special development plans.

The meeting will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Leonardia said he will give a welcome message and discuss brief updates on the developments in Bacolod.

Cadiao will deliver the chairwoman’s message and the 2017 “State of the Region Address,” while Sugar Regulatory Administration head Hermenegildo Serafic will report on the Development Directions of the Sugar Industry.

Chairpersons of the RDC’s sector and committees will report on their accomplishments:

Leonardia said the local government is grateful for the opportunity to host the meeting.

“I find this very significant because the (RDC) is … the one approving the major projects of each province and city,” he said. “We have to keep abreast with what is happening in the (RDC).”

Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary Paul Anthony Pangilinan will pay Leonardia a courtesy visit at the latter’s office today.

Pangilinan, commissioner-at-large of the National Youth Commission (NYC), requested the presence of the city’s youth development officer and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president Ayesha Joy Villaflor during his visit.

Leonardia said Pangilinan will discuss with them the Philippine Youth Development Plan for 2017-2022, the government’s comprehensive development plan for young Filipinos, and other thrusts of the NYC. (With a report from Bacolod City PIO/PN)
