ILOILO City – The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has uncovered a new drug trade strategy.
Police Captain Glenn Soliman, RDEU chief, said that amid the intensified crackdown against illegal drugs, traffickers have now changed their modus operandi by renting a house or room to avoid arrest.
The RDEU chief added that dealers possessing a huge volume of drugs are usually operating outside the city to deceive the operating units.
The target places near metro Iloilo are the towns of Pavia, Oton, and even Sta. Barbara to make it appear that they are no longer in their area of operation.
“Madamo na kami na-arrest nga taga-Iloilo City gid sila pero nag-rent sang room or house outside the city para indi ma-monitor ila whereabouts. Amo na subong ginahimo nila naga-transfer sa province kay kun diri sila mag-operate madasig sila ma zero in,” Soliman said.
In line with this, the RDEU will be running after suspects tagged as high-value individuals (HVI) after a thorough review of the lists of drug suspects.
“We are intensifying our operations. There is no let-up for them, especially those newly identified. We are also keeping track of the movements of drug dealers to operate effectively. As much as possible, mga HVI ang dakpon ta,” Soliman told Panay News.
“As of now, updated na aton listahan kag gina-surveillance ta ila movements para maka-operate. We are thankful to the public for giving us information,” Soliman added./PN
