WE ARE pleased to quote below comments on our column of Feb. 16 about the “Ilonggo Nation” that came from Lina Araneta Divinagracia who is a sister of the movement’s founder, Dinggol A. Divinagracia:

Good morning, Mr. Johnny Novera.  This is hoping all is well with you.

I just read your article on the Ilonggo Nation where you said you came across an Ilonggo Nation Movement founded on Dec. 15, 2005, by Dinggol A. Divinagracia.

In your last paragraph you stated: “With these facts of history, we hereby endorse the movement for the territory of the previously merged Negros Republic and the Federal Republic of the Visayas to be restored as one political region in the proposed federal government when implemented.”

I welcome your endorsement, but after this endorsement what then do we need to do?

I am the elder sister of Dinggol Araneta Divinagracia.

I am Lina Araneta Divinagracia (single) and am now interested with this issue. I was the Assistant Principal of Assumption Iloilo from 1972-1980 before I left for the USA. I am a retired teacher from the USA and came back 2009 to permanently reside here in IIoilo.

Presently, I am distributing a book authored by Dr. Salvador Araneta, “Bayanikasan Constitution: A Non-Traditional Approach to Federalism.” First printing was in 1972. Should you wish for copies of this book I can give you as many as 10 copies.

A response from you will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Ms. Lina A. Divinagracia

***

In coming out with our article on the “Ilonggo Nation”, our intention was to incite some reaction from the founder, Dinggol A. Divinagracia, or from any of his colleagues in the movement and get an update on the status of their campaign to get recognition for their Federal Republic of the Visayas as a political unit when our country converts to a Federal form of government.

We are happy therefore to receive the e-mailed letter of Ms. Lina A.  Divinagracia in reaction to our column and her interest in the Federal movement.  We think that if her brother Dinggol’s group is still existing, our advice to her is that she might as well join their Ilonggo Nation Movement, they being already ahead  on the campaign trail in this aspect.

To Ms. Lina, regarding Dr. Salvador Araneta’s book, “Bayanikasan Constitution” on Federalism, we shall be glad to receive a complimentary copy for us to read it as you offered. Our mailing address is: Block 27, Lot 2, NHA Village, Mandurriao, 5000 Iloilo City. Thank you very much.
