Real talk with #ThePSN, Part 2

IN PART 1, I explained that my opinion is perhaps more important and more credible because I am not beholden to anyone.

Wala po akong pinagkakautangan na politico.

***

Wala rin po tayong comparison.

At the moment, angat ako sa iyo.

I’m freaking 53.

With age, experience, own money, and a life well lived comes wisdom.

Ako, may karapatang mag-realtalk.

Ikaw, may karapatang mag-real listen.

Ito po ang pinupunto ko: your opinion, if it runs against mine, you should really evaluate.

Possibleng maging tama ka.

I give you + or – 10% chance of being right.

But my chance of being right is 90%.

That’s why I write for the newspaper, and you don’t.

That’s why you read me, and I don’t read you.

***

Kasi, I did my research hindi sa TikTok or sa YouTube.

I have lived my life.

I have talked to people young and old.

I have read the Bible from cover to cover at least five times in my life.

***

Cover to cover po, understanding the big picture, God’s message.

I have read the Bible as literature.

I have read the Bible as lectio divina.

I have read the Bible as a prophet.

Bible scholar po ako sa seminario when I was in my twenties.

***

About Philippine history, I had great teachers.

And most of these great teachers are now dead, so hindi n’yo talaga inabot.

Your history teachers now are probably just products of these great history teachers.

So, sino ngayon ang mas credible—someone who has lived through the dictatorship, or someone who just heard about the Martial Law years from TikTok and YouTube?

Between your lola who tells you that it was peaceful during the Martial Law years, and the families of those victims of tortures and ‘salvages’ or extrajudicial killings, sino po ang paniniwalaan ninyo?

***

Hindi sinungaling ang lola ninyo.

But that is not the whole story.

She would rather just obey, obey, obey, para peaceful lang.

But some people, like me, would like your lola’s and your mom’s lives to be better.

So, we cry, we protest, we demonstrate in the streets.

We fight the fight your cowardly and submissive lola does not want to fight.

We fight the battle for her.

So, you can call us “activists.”

***

Nabuhay ang lola mo para sabihing it was peaceful during the Martial Law years.

They cannot tell you now how they suffered.

But don’t you think you owe it to them for you to hear the other real stories of the “peaceful years” from their bereaved families and relatives?

I did my homework. Do yours!

***

I also studied psychology.

***

And they continue to name all the thieves and plunderers of our country.

May nagmamarunong: Bakit si Leni ba, walang ninakaw?

Tamang sagot ko: Walang ninakaw si Leni. Try to prove me wrong, if you dare.

But, of course, they cannot prove me wrong because:

1) I am always right.

***

“Naniniwala ka ba na hindi nagnakaw ang mga Marcos sa 20 years position of power?”

That is a simple question with a simple Yes or No answer.

Bakit hindi masagot nang maayos at derecho?

Because deep in their heart they know that the Marcoses stole billions of dollars from the Philippines.

But they are too proud to admit that they are so stupid to believe that the Marcoses are plunderers… and still they are supporting the Marcoses.

Cognitive bias ba ito?

***

Fanaticism can be an illness.

Denying the truth is a sign of a mental illness.

Living on lies is a mental illness.

How real should realtalk be before you get this? (To be continued)/PN
