BACOLOD City – Alleged New People’s Army (NPA) members killed a former soldier in Barangay Sebucawan, Isabela, Negros Occidental.
Mervin Pontoy Tovis, 49, of Barangay Libas, Isabela was shot while drinking coffee at a store.
He died of gunshot wounds on the head and back around 3:30 p.m.
Five suspects were involved. They used .45 pistols, investigation showed.
After the shooting, they fled while firing their guns and exclaiming they were members of the NPA, police said.
Investigation continues. Police have yet to verify if the suspects were indeed rebels./PN
