ILOILO City – Rebisco Volleyball League is making its return to Western Visayas with the Iloilo City and Iloilo Province legs this Saturday at the Ledesco Covered Court of Hua Siong College of Iloilo here.
According to tournament director Stephen Plagata Patrona, six teams each from Iloilo City and Iloilo Province will compete in a one-day tournament to determine the leg winners.
“The winners in Iloilo City and Iloilo Province will then go up against the winners in Bacolod, Negros Occidental and Aklan legs to determine the team that will represent Western Visayas in the National Finals,” Patrona said.
Competing in the Iloilo City legs were Hua Siong, Central Philippine University, University of San Agustin, Santa Clarita International School, Saint Joseph High School and La Paz National High School.
Vying in the Iloilo Province leg were Cabatuan National High School, Oton National High School, Passi National High School, Leon National High School, Sta. Barbara National High School and Pavia National High School.
“Rebisco made this Western Visayas qualifying legs a one-day tournament and the two legs will be held simultaneously in two courts in Hua Siong,” Patrona said.
“Bale to make it fast, it will be single-round robin among the six teams and it will be first-to-two sets per match lang. Then we head to the playoffs round to determine the winner,” he added.
“We are also thankful to Hua Siong President Board of Trustees Ian Pama, through Sports Coordinator Bayani Ladrido, for letting us use the venue for free despite the short notice,” he further said.
Aside the Iloilo City and Iloilo Province legs, Aklan leg is slated today, Bacolod City leg will follow suit on Sept. 4 and Negros Occidental leg on Sept. 6.
The Rebisco Volleyball League Western Visayas Regional Finals is then slated from Sept. 7 to 8 at the San Carlos Auditorium in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Prior to this year, the previous Rebisco Regional League Regionals was held in 2019 where Bacolod Tay Tung High School emerged as Region 6 representatives./PN
