Regine Velasquez claps back at basher for ‘failing’ to reach high notes

Regine Velasquez did not mince her words when she came after a basher who called her out for allegedly failing to reach the high notes of a song during a performance abroad.

Apparently, the basher was referring to the Asia’s Songbird’s finale on ASAP Bay Area where she sang “On the Wings of Love.”

The basher wrote: “I watched your prod with the Divas. You sang ‘On the Wings of Love’ and you did not hit the right note. Thousands of Filipinos paid their tickets coming from their hard-earned money, yet you gave them that performance. Nakakahiya ka! Finale ka pa! ‘Di mo naman maabot! Pweh! ‘Wag ka nalang kumanta!”

Meanwhile, the singer shared a screenshot of the comment and posted it on Instagram.

Explaining her side, the 49-year-old Kapamilya singer said that the outcome of an artist’s performance varies depending on one’s physical condition.

“I guess kasalanan ko rin naman kasi kahit madaling kanta pinapahirap ko. So ‘pag hindi ko binirit disappointed na ang ibang mas mataas pa sa boses ko ang expectations. Alam mo iba iba ang bawat pagkanta minsan depende sa kundisyon ng katawan at boses ng isang mangaawit ang kalalabasan ng kanyang performance,” she wrote.

Velasquez also admitted that there is no excuse to whatever happened during her performance. Then again, she defended herself because she knew she gave her 101 percent for all those who came to see the show.

“Pero tama ka, there are no excuses, pinaghirapan nyo ang perang ipinambayad nyo para manood so you guys deserve only the best. At alam naming lahat yan kaya naman kahit may sakit, walang boses, nakipag-break sa jowa, namatayan ng pet, at kung ano paman, we always give it our best 101 percent,” she wrote.

Despite the hurtful words thrown at her, Velasquez still managed to see the brighter side of it. She added that she’s thankful for getting reminded that there’s always room for redemption.

“But again, no excuses. We all do what we do because we all love to entertain all of you. Natutuwa kami na sa maikling panahon na pagsasama natin napatawa, napaindak, napasayaw, napaiyak, napa-in love namin kayo, na sa maikling panahon nakalimutan nating lahat na may kanya-kanya tayong pinagdadaanan. But thank you for letting me know that I was so bad, I will do my best next time. Kasi lagi namang may next time laging may next time to redeem myself. Yan naman ang maganda sa life laging may next time,” she said.

Friends of Regine Velasquez – including Vice Ganda, Jaya, K Brosas, Janno Gibbs, Katrina Velarde, Mark Bautista, Kris Lawrence, Jed Madela, and husband Ogie Alcasid, among others – rallied behind her to show their support. (Push)
