Region’s No. 7 ‘most wanted’ man arrested

ILOILO City – Western Visayas’ No. 7 most wanted person was arrested in Barangay Poblacion, Ibajay, Aklan on July 20 after 11 years of hiding.

The 32-year-old Jonato Sencio of Barangay Pitogo, San Joaquin, Iloilo was cornered in his hideout around 2 p.m.

A former member of the New People’s Army, he was a suspect in the death of seaman Nestor Sevedino of Barangay Bagumbayan, San Joaquin.

Sevedino was shot in 2003.

Judge Teodulo Colada of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 67 in Guimbal, Iloilo issued Sencio’s arrest warrant.

Sencio used the name “Ricky” to conceal his identity, said Senior Supt. Samuel Nacion, Aklan police director. His men arrested Sencio days after receiving information from the San Joaquin police about the fugitive’s whereabouts in Aklan.

After his arrest, Sencio was turned over to the San Joaquin police station, said Insp. Hermogenes Eulatic, San Joaquin police chief./PN
