BACOLOD City – Dormitories and boarding houses here must be regulated, Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. said.
During the last five years, the city has seen an influx of students and call center agents from other towns and cities, and this in turn has spurred the operation of a number of dormitories and boarding houses, he noted.
However, Gamboa noted, some operators and/or owners of boarding houses, dormitories and apartments do not comply with basic requirements.
These requirements include the Fire and Safety Inspection Certificate, Sanitary Permit and Certificate of Annual Building Inspection.
There is a need to establish basic guidelines for these operators to avoid accidents and ensure a safe of the public, Gamboa stressed./PN
