MANILA – Reinstating Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s security detail from the Philippine National Police will not be a problem once he resurfaces from hiding, Malacañang said.
According to Undersecretary Claire Castro of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the PNP might have recalled the security of Dela Rosa since he is not there in his residence.
“Nasaan po ba kasi si Senator Bato? Nakikita po ba natin?” Castro said. “As of the moment hindi ko po siya nakikita. So, paano po natin siya mabibigyan ng seguridad kung hindi po siya nagpapakita.”
“Baka po kasi nawala po siya. So, hindi naman puwedeng tumambay lang ang security nang wala po siya. Siguro po kapag siya po ay nagpakita po, hindi naman po iyan magiging problema,” she added.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Dela Rosa said retired cops and soldiers have volunteered to replace his security detail that was recalled by the PNP.
Dela Rosa has previously said that he plans to go into hiding to evade possible arrest because of his involvement in former president Rodrigo Duterte’s war on illegal drugs.
