THEY’RE off. Officially, that is.
The campaign period took off on the 29th of March and this being April, by the second week of May we will know who is the next a.h. (ass hole) who will plunder…administer the hall, city, province or municipal. Or will we be stuck with the same a.h.?

This being politics, all that is unfair as it goes. And particularly attractive and acceptable as fare is money. By political expedience, the money has already been withdrawn and kept in safe houses to be used later to buy food, clothing and medicine for the sick and needy but especially to buy votes.
That is why, the barangay captains and the rest of the political tongue-lashers are fiercely excited and for once straining the contents of their dishonorable brains…to find out which side gives more.

I remember a mayoralty race in Iloilo City where the contenders were the incumbent Mayor TITA CARAM, RODING GANZON, CELSO LEDESMA, and NENE CONSING.
This political dealer… a.h., leader had 10 children and he fielded two of his children to each camp. And they reported weekly the happenings during their meetings and compared notes, notably which candidate gave more envelopes…and as expected, all 10 switched to the highest bidder/giver.
Indeed, election time is a grand period where candidates reluctantly follow the biblical teachings…that it is more blessed to give than to receive. For him who gives more to his fellow man shall receive more votes.

Anyway, while we are at it, maybe it would be a consolation if we voted well and wisely. I am referring to those who have not received any money from the candidates. Since you did not receive any financial inspiration, you might as well cast a conscience vote with the vengeance of a spurned lover.
There is rhyme and reason not to vote for candidates in the drug list of President Duterte. We all know the pernicious, vicious effects of drugs. It guts the user, rendering fine promising specimens of young men and women into doddering unkempt idiots doomed to perdition. Once addicted, shabu – residue of superheated abrasive and toxic chemicals – is so lethal it destroys the man, body and soul…and no amount of rehabilitation works.
Anyone who receives drug money receives blood money sourced from the mangled bodies of our youth; stained with the tears, anguish and despair of broken homes; shattered dreams and faded loves. You are not fit to serve.

It is time a careful and objective diagnosis be made of our candidates who proffer themselves for public service. The criteria should strictly be the candidates’ academic qualification and professional and moral conduct in life.
This is a difficult exercise to vet the ideal and appropriate man or woman to serve our nation. We have many public officials who serve office with the highest degree of academic qualifications and an even higher degree of avarice.
This led the colorful and bombastic Mayor of Manila, ARSENIO LACSON, in his prime, to criticize a promising candidate as: “So young. So bright. So handsome. And so corrupt.” (muzones_law_office@yahoo.com/PN)
