BACOLOD City – City Administrator John Orola told the City Legal Office to remove the illegal structures at the Bacolod Vendors’ Plaza.
This was after representatives of the Bacolod Vendors’ Plaza Association (BVPA) failed to attend their meeting with him on Sept. 16 at the Bacolod City Government Center.
A notice to vacate the area was given to owners of illegal structures in the area, Orola said.
But BVPA president Julie Ann Atienza said she wrote Orola last week asking to move the meeting to Sept. 30.
Atienza said they wanted to hold the meeting at the Bacolod Vendors’ Plaza so that “everything will be transparent.”
Atienza also said they will not attend the meeting if the Pagbabago Bangon Pilipinas board of directors and the presidents of 15 different sectors in the city were not present.
However, Orola did not grant their request because he was “very busy” and will be out of the country on Atienza’s proposed meeting date.
Orola said all of the businesses at the Bacolod Vendors’ Plaza were illegal.
“They don’t have business permits,” said Orola.
The city government is planning to turn the Bacolod Vendors’ Plaza and the Manokan Country into a reclamation area./PN
