BACOLOD City – The Department of Health (DOH) asked the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) to report to the agency the actions the hospital has taken on the complaints against it.
“Consistent with the provisions of Administrative Order No. 2015-0048 (Revised Procedures on Handling Administrative Disciplinary Complaints in the DOH), we refer to you for comments and appropriate actions the following attached electronic mail letters sent to the Office of the Secretary and the Hotline 8888,” a memo addressed to chief of hospital Dr. Julius Drilon stated.
“Failure to provide a copy of the action taken on this matter within five days from receipt hereof is a violation of Republic Act 9485, otherwise known as the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007,” stated the memo dated Jan. 26 and signed by Undersecretary Agnette Peralta.
Mary Joy Geronca and her twins died in the CLMMRH on Jan. 17 due to alleged negligence of the hospital staff.
Jose Cesar Penario, father of Geronca, sought the help of Task Force Crusaders, an anticrime group operating under the Office of the Solicitor General, and the National Bureau of Investigation.
According to Penario, his daughter was not immediately attended to while undergoing labor.
Task Force Crusaders national commander Romeo Maganto asked the Department of Health to investigate the incident.
Drilon denied that the CLMMRH staff had been negligent. He insisted that they did everything they can to save Geronca and her twins.
Last year the hospital was also a subject of a complaint with Task Force Crusaders.
Some patients and folks have experienced alleged harsh treatment from the CLMMRH staff./PN
